Release Oct 5, 2026: Rating Fields & Advanced Matrix Grids
We are excited to announce complete support for Rating Fields and Advanced Matrix Grids (Multiple Choice Grid and Checkbox Grid) in CustomGForm v1.5.0!
This release expands form coverage to previously unsupported Google Form question types with full UI parity, mobile responsiveness, and client-side validation.
Key Capabilities
1. Interactive Rating Field
- Scale Customization: Supports scales from 1 to 5 (or any customized scale defined in your Google Form).
- Multiple Icon Styles: Full rendering support for Stars, Hearts, and Thumbs icons.
- Center Alignment: Rating scale items are automatically centered within the form group for a balanced, professional look.
- Custom Rating Icon Color: Full control over rating icon colors (
rating-icon-color) via the Dashboard Design editor and AI/MCP tools (customize_google_form), with dedicated dark-mode support. - Hover & Keyboard Navigation: Smooth hover previews and full accessible keyboard navigation with arrow keys and Enter/Space selection.
- Click-to-Clear: Easily deselect or reset a rating for optional questions.
2. Standalone Checkbox Grid Component
- Matrix Multi-Select: Allows respondents to select multiple options across rows and columns.
- Mobile Responsive Layout: Horizontally scrollable wrapper (
overflow-x-auto) ensuring smooth navigation on mobile screens without breaking page layout.
3. "Limit to 1 Response per Column" Validation
- Real-Time Column Uniqueness: Automatically detects if Google Forms specifies the column limit rule (
[[8, 205]]). - Inline Validation Error: Displays
"Please don't select more than one response per column"under the grid and prevents submission until resolved.
4. Row Order Shuffling
- Unbiased Presentation: Supports Google Forms' "Shuffle row order" setting (
shuffleRowOrder). - Stable Randomization: Front-end row ordering remains stable across step navigation and re-renders to prevent infinite render loops.
5. AI & MCP Diagnostics Parity
- Updated
troubleshoot_form_connection: Fully updated to recognize Rating and Checkbox Grid forms as healthy, maintaining strict parity between the web dashboard and AI agent tooling.
